October 16 2018, by Rachel Yeung
Do you recall arriving in a foreign country, feeling jet-lagged and maybe even a little lost if you don't speak their language? Even for the most seasoned of travelers, living out of a suitcase can get quite dreary and leave them feeling homesick when they start to miss their home comforts. Whenever overseas guests visit us in Hong Kong, of course we want to make them feel right at home. So what's the secret to welcoming your overseas guests? Whether they're here for business or leisure, all the little things you do go a long way to making their stay infinitely better...
Here are our top tips on welcoming overseas guests and making their hotel room feel homely
1. Have Fresh Flowers Delivered to Their Hotel Room in Advance
What pops into your mind when you think of a cookie-cutter hotel room? I'd say white bedsheets, a tea and coffee tray, and some cute little soaps to name a few. Imagine their surprise and delight when they find a vase of fresh flowers waiting for them when they check in! There's nothing like the smell and look of fresh blooms to brighten up a room and boost a mood.
Most hotels would be more than happy to help you add in this little bit of sparkle, all you have to do is call them in advance to let them know that flowers will be on their way. If you forgot to arrange for flowers in advance and the realization hits you that your guests are arriving today, don't panic because we'll deliver your flowers on the same day to any hotel in Hong Kong.
2. Leave a Personalized Note
Handwritten notecards are a sure way to add a personal touch in welcoming your guests. There's something about them that speaks to the heart. Type up your gift message on our website, we'll handwrite it and send it together with your flowers or gifts.
3. Find Out Their Travel Plans
Whether it's their first time in Hong Kong or they're a frequent visitor, there's nothing people appreciate more than knowing how to find their way around. Why not help them navigate this concrete jungle by recommending them your favorite things to do. From the best dim sum restaurants to most instagrammable spots in Hong Kong, make this a trip they won't forget. Better yet, equip them with a handy little LUXE city guide and let them explore the city on their own. They'll be spoilt for choice of things to do with LUXE's highly curated list of restaurants, spas, boutiques, and bars.
4. Add Little Personal Touches
Think travel candles, their favorite chocolates or magazines, or even a pair of super soft bedroom slippers in their size. Some hotels may not allow candles, but rules are made to be broken once in a while, aren't they? After a long day of meetings or sightseeing, a candle is a perfect addition for creating a calm atmosphere to unwind in. If you know they love pampering beauty products, why not add in some bath salts or face and body masks too?
5. Let Them Enjoy It

With her incredible views and a plethora of things to see, eat and do, its no wonder that Hong Kong is one of the most visited cities in the world with over 58 million visitors a year. As much as you want your guests to experience everything, you should also give them space to explore in their own time.
By the end of the trip, they'll not only remember the city for her food or scenery, but they'll also remember the hospitality of their host. What other tips do you guys have for welcoming your guests to Hong Kong? We'd love to know in the comments below!
