5 Wedding Flower Mistakes Your Florist Wants You To Avoid
May 18 2018, by Rachel Yeung
You've got your wedding dress, your wedding cake and your wedding venue. Now you just have to decide on which wedding flowers to go for. Seems straightforward doesn't it?
You'd think so! Here comes the moment where you get on Pinterest and start pinning gorgeous blooms to your board, what could possibly go wrong??
That's where we come in as your florist to advise you on what is best and what to avoid.
1. NOT DOING YOUR RESEARCH

Sometimes, brides don't do their research on what kind of wedding bouquet they want and they think they'll figure it out once they're presented with flower options. We definitely recommend browsing through Instagram, magazines, blogs and Pinterest to nail down your preferences beforehand.
2. DOING TOO MUCH RESEARCH AND TRYING TO REPLICATE YOUR PINTEREST BOARD
Yes there is such a thing as doing too much research. Often people find their dream wedding bouquet and they absolutely have to have it! Many flowers are seasonal, and if you're getting married in Hong Kong, we definitely have to consider the heat and humidity in Hong Kong when choosing flowers that will last.
3. WHEN YOU WANT TO HAVE FLOWERS EVERYWHERE
It's easy to get caught up in all the pretty blooms and want to have flowers everywhere, or go overboard with a bridal bouquet that's too big. We definitely believe in the less is more approach - on the big day when your guests are filling up the space you wouldn't want it to be crowded with flowers everywhere. Nor do you want your bridal bouquet to be too big and take the attention away from your dress!
4. CHOOSING FLOWERS THAT DON'T MATCH YOUR VENUE

You wouldn't choose wedding shoes that don't match your wedding dress, and the same goes for wedding flowers! Think of the colour scheme you want and picture it in your venue before you get your heart set on your ideal flowers.
5. NOT CONSIDERING YOUR CENTREPIECES

These are almost as important as your bridal bouquet, and there are a few things to think about when designing your centrepieces. Again we would go for the less is more approach here, you don't want to be overcrowding the table. Another thing brides may forget is the fragrance of the centrepieces - as pretty as lillies look, they do give off a strong smell that may not be everyone's cup of tea!
Most importantly, you should have fun while you're planning your wedding and trust that we'll make them look fabulous on your big day!
